Tis the Season to Visit Downtown Sarasota, Florida
When I think of “home,” I think of Main Street in downtown Sarasota. Streets filled with people, shops and restaurants bustling especially in the holiday season. Downtown Sarasota has a historical district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many of the buildings were built in the early 1900s. On Main Street, you’ll see the Kress Building, on Mira Mar Court, the Roth Cigar Factory and my favorite on Pineapple Street, the Sarasota Opera House. These building feature various architectural designs of the 1900s.
There plenty of entertainment, shopping and arts in downtown Sarasota. Visit the Golden Apple Dinner Theater for a fun filled evening of a buffet dinner and a play. Browse and shop the art galleries on Palm Avenue, special and antique shops on Main Street and beyond. Choose from over 60 downtown Sarasota restaurants to relax and sip a glass of wine.
Our vibrant city of Sarasota features a “Live It’s Friday Night” festivity the first Friday of every month. Come enjoy entertainment and music through downtown as you meander throughout the shops and galleries. Every Saturday morning local vendors gather to present their produce, flowers and crafts at the downtown Sarasota Farmers Market – a tradition since 1979. Grab your last minute gifts in December and enjoy flavor of the local community of Sarasota, Florida.
