Sarasota, Florida was just named by as the top place to retire 2012. Sarasota residents already know that our city has it all! cited a few of the reasons why Sarasota received this prestigious honor:  “The economics are very attractive: median home prices well below the national average, no income tax, low property taxes” was stated as a few of the many reasons for Sarasota receiving this honor. Also, for a small city, Sarasota’s cultural venues are incredible.  There’s the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, GWIZ Science Center, the Sarasota Opera, the Sarasota Orchestra and the Sarasota Opera.
